![]() “Newmar pickup” dealerships, the average discount was 26.8% The overall average discount offered was 27.1%. ![]() So, what is your opinion of my methods and results?Ħ4.7% of the “dealer deliver” dealerships I hope this information will benefit you in your search for the “perfect discount.” I could not have undertaken this task without the suggestions, recommendations, and information I received from you forum members. Some of the dealerships that submitted a bid and their discount off of MSRP are: The saleman is Lee Probert and I would recommend him and the dealership for your next Newmar purchase. So, who did I select and how much discount did I receive off of the MSRP? I selected Steinbring, located in Alexandria, MN and I received a 28.7% discount off of the MSRP of $249,927. I had only one salesman tell me not to bring the coach to his dealership for service, the others were very professional. I contacted most of the other dealerships to inform them of my selection and to thank them for submitting their bids. On Saturday, I put down my deposit on the new MH and expect to take delivery at the Newmar facility by the end of April. With the final group, I then evalated the bid, the sales staff, the dealer's location and service, amount of deposit, and interest rate for in-house financing.īased on the above criteria, I made my selection of the dealership to order my MH. At the close of the bidding period, I narrowed down the list to 5 dealerships. I received bids from over 67% of the dealerships with discounts ranging from 24.0% to 29.6% off of MSRP. I asked the dealers submit their final bids within a specific timeframe for a straight cash deal with no trade, to be considered. I emailed my "build sheet" to the of list dealers, asking if they would like the opportunity to submit their bid on my proposed coach. Since Newmar charges $1,499 MSRP for picking up the coach at its facility, I developed the second "build sheet." I developed two different “build sheets,” one for "delivery to the dealer" and a second for "Newmar factory pickup." I did this because I would take delivery of the MH at the dealership, if it was within a specific radius from my location, which is near Chicago and take delivery of the MH at the Newmar facility, if the dealership was further away. I developed a “build sheet” for the unit I wanted, using Newmar's “Retail Prices Purchase Order Form” to get the MSRP cost of each option and the corresponding code number. I ended up with 44 Newmar dealers from across the US on my initial list. I searched this and other forums for comments about the dealer and if there were multiple negative comments about that dealership, I removed it from my list. ![]() I selected a cross-section of Newmar dealers from across the nation by searching various sources to locate those dealers. I followed some advice I read here on the forum about to bidding out my purchase of a new ’05 Dutch Star. So, I set out to find out for myself, what a reasonable discount off of MSRP was. I read the books, read the posts, and listened to the dealers – even with all of those resources, I still did not know. What is a reasonable discount off of MSRP should you expect when you purchase a new MH? Ten percent, 15%, 25%, or what? That was one of my questions when I began my search for a new MH. In preparing to purchase a new 2005 Newmar Dutch Star, I had no idea what I should pay for the MH. Topic: MSRP Discount - what is reasonable?
